Bob West of Mountain Home, Idaho for "Oregon Coast"
2nd Place Oil and Acrylic
$500 in Richeson Art Materials
Hi Friends, Just wanted to share some good news with all of you!
Recently, I had three of Bob's paintings entered in a competition. They were The Oregon Coast, Rock Star and Arch Rock. The competition is Richeson 75 International Art Competitions - seascapes, landscapes and structures 2012.
I am estatic!!! Last night we received notice that two (2!!!!!) are in the finals and the third one, Arch Rock, has received a meritorious notice but is not in the finals. The finals will be listed after April 20th. The Artists Receptions, awards banquet/ceremony is to be held in Madison WI that night. Of course now, we are on pins and needles waiting, waiting, waiting.... In the meantime, I now have to fill out all the paper work required (by February 13) and get them shipped off to Wisconsin by April 2 for the awards banquet.
This is amazing to me! We enter three and all three got something. It proves a point: rejection in art is the same as a writing rejection. It just means we keep on submitting. Incidentally, meritorious award means that that one also will be listed in their event/sales catalog, but will not be hung in their gallery or displayed in the on-line gallery. The judge/juror is Timothy Riley, Executive Director of the Trout Museum of Art in Wisconsin. The final decision on the final contestants will be made "live" from the gallery exhibit.
We will keep you posted on what happens further!
